Mr. G. Colhier Robbins, of Eureka, organized and incorporated the Wyandotte Silver Mining Company for the development of mines in the Tem Piute Mining District which is in Lincoln County, Nevada.
Its individual mines were the Wyandotte, Kenzie, Colonel Head, Thompson, and Rattler.
At its peak of activity the Wyandotte employed about 40 men.
The Tem Piute district was plagued by several problems that ultimately dashed all hope of it becoming a major producer of mineral wealth.
It was remote from population centers and railroads and was accessible only by primitive roads.
Water had to be transported by mules from Tikaboo Springs, 7 miles away.
The Wyandotte Silver Mining Co. shipped quantities for processing to nearby Crescent. The dismantling of the ten-stamp mill there all but halted mining until the later findings of tungsten in 1916.
