    Description

Here are two canceled 100 share stock certificates from the Homestake Mining Company from 1888 & 1889, Dakota Territory---South Dakota. The Homestake mine claim was purchased by George Hurst, Lloyd Tevis, and James Haggin for ,000. The mine was on land in the Black Hills that had been guaranteed (by treaty) to the Lakota Nation that later became Lead, South Dakota. Stock was issued from 1879 to 2001. They measure 6 7/8" X 10 3/8" and number 6417 has two U.S. Internal Revenue .00 stamps on the reverse.  Signed by Louis Haggin who I believe was the grandson of James Haggin.  Dated March 27, 1888 and October 1, 1889. Nice condition with a touch of soiling on the corners of # 6147. A wonderful piece of South Dakota and gold mining history.  Free shipping!
