The South Side Milling and Mining Company owned mines in Leadville, Colorado (Lake County), in the Lackawanna Gulch area outside of Leadville (Lake Creek District). Company offices were in Leadville. The historic mining town of Leadville is situated at 10,152 feet in elevation, near the headwaters of the Arkansas River. The company owned two large mining claims in Lackawanna Gulch within a gold-rich quartzite ore vein.
