Larry Rice was a USAC midget and sprint car race car driver and had his eye turned toward the Indianapolis Motorcar speedway. Rice won the USAC race car championship in 1973 and in 1976. Larry has won 14 USAC midget races, including the prestigious "Hut 100" at Terri Haute, Indiana in 1970 and hopes the Gatorade Special will bring his first Sprint triumph in 1976 with capable mechanic, Don Shepherd, turning the wrenches. He drove his first race in 1959 and won over 100 races, all over the U.S. He didn't join the USAC until 1968, but scored his first USAC win at the next year at Hales Corners, Wisconsin.
