This un-cancelled stock certificate #70 is issued for 4,623 shares of stock and issued to J.L. King (Secretary) on December 4, 1872. 4 1/2"  X 9 1/2". A couple of slight fold creases else very good condition.
Suitable for framing or just to collect as a piece of early American mining history. It is significant to note that the company was incorporated with capitol stock totaling million amounting to 60,000 shares. This would mean that King now had a controlling interest in the property. This gold and silver mining district located 50 miles south of Austin Nevada was the scene of a rush that lasted between 1865-1869. News reports from Sacramento in 1875 refer to the "Old Murphy" was ready to begin production again. Rare.
