MERCRUISER BELL HOUSING (Alpha One Gen One) 42815A6 42815A 6

Description

Listed here is a USED Mercruiser Alpha 1 Gen 1 Bell Housing.  This is a Genuine OEM Mercruiser part NOT a cheap Chinese aftermarket replacement.  Has some pitting/staining/wear from normal operation.  Part is fully functional.  The threads on two of the studs are not perfect although they are operable.  In the pictures (next to last) I have shown that the nuts thread on properly/fully and have included two extra USED studs (part number 16-59579) just in case they give you trouble in the future.  The 6 nuts (part number 11-869116) are also included but I am not guaranteeing the operation of them since they are old and should be replaced via the service manual.  Also including the old shift shaft seal (last picture).  It sealed at time of removal but should also be replaced due to age.  The part number for the seal kit is 23-805041A2 or 23-805041A 2 and lists for just under new.  One can be provided for extra charge if you are interested.  The part number for this bell housing is 42815A6 or 42815A 6 and lists for 8.93 new from the dealer.  This is the part that connects to the gimbal ring on the transom assembly and the gear case.  This model is the Alpha I Gen I and was used from the early 1980s to about 1990 (depending on where you boat was on the assembly line).  THIS BELL HOUSING WILL NOT WORK ON THE ALPHA I GEN II.   The one you see here came from a 1989 transom assembly that was used on a fresh water Orlando lake its entire life and has never seen salt water.  The bell housing you see listed is the actual bell housing you will receive with nothing extra.  If you have any questions or need help with compatibility please feel free to contact me and I will help you to the best of my abilities.  Thank you for your interest.
