The Canyon Creek Consolidated Gold Mines had placer mining operations at their Canyon Creek mines (also called the Gold Bug mines) located about two miles north of Georgetown, California (El Dorado County), along Canyon Creek just north of Georgia Slide mine. This was mostly a secondary mining operation since accumulated hydraulic mine tailings, seam deposit detritus and some virgin gravel were intermittently worked by several different operators from around 1896 to 1934. The material was extracted by draglines and sent through a trommel (screen) and sluices to accumulate gold.
